1. Always thoroughly rise off your board, paddle, and any other gear after use in salt or brackish water. Remove any dirt, debris, or residue. If there is dirt that cannot be rinsed away a mild dish soap or cleaner can be used. We recommend using one that does not contain any harsh chemicals or bleach to ensure no damage is done to the board while cleaning.
2. Always inspect your board for any signs of a ding or crack that might allow water intrusion into your board before each use.
3. When not using your board keep the board out of direct hot sunlight. If you must leave the board on the beach or other area in direct sunlight for a SHORT amount of time when not in use, prop up the board on its rail so to reduce the surface area facing the hot sun.
4. Always store your board out of direct sunlight and or extreme heat or cold. A garage for example is just fine.
5. NEVER leave your board sitting out in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time.
6. NEVER leave your board sitting on top or inside of your car in direct sunlight or hot temperatures.

-All paddle boards are now considered “vessels” by the United States Coast Guard. Since paddle boards are considered “vessels” a PFD (personal floatation device) and a signaling whistle are required to be onboard at all times. This does not mean you have to wear the PFD, but it does have to remain visible on your board. If you remain in the surf zone at the beach no PFD or whistle are required. It is also always recommend to use your SUP ankle leash at all times when using your paddle board.
-If you have a pickup truck it’s easy! For everyone else, transporting SUP boards and larger surfboards is normally done using your cars roof rack system (cargo crossbars) and a pair of pull or ratchet straps. You can also purchase a soft rack that can be easily installed and removed on your car (4-door vehicles are recommended when using such racks). We like the FCS SOFT RACK.
-Accidents and dings happen so don’t worry! If you do happen to get a ding or crack into your board (that allows water intrusion into the core of the board) then you need to get the damage repaired before use. Most local surf, SUP shop / outdoor watersports retailers offer “ding repair” services at an affordable price. We love our local surf and SUP shops as they are very knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to getting you back out on the water. So if you’re not familiar with DIY board repair, it’s always best to look to your local experts for advice. If you are interested in doing your own repair, there are many ding repair kits available at your local shops or online.
